Wish I’da Written It Because It’s So True!

This comes from Felicity Librie’s marvelous interview with Tracy Chevalier in The Writer, Jan. 2010 about why she (Chevalier) writes longhand:

I write longhand — I hate writing directly into the computer. The connection between my brain and my hand, and ink is strong. If I type a word and see it on the screen, it feels disconnected. Writing longhand feels like . . . liquid coming out of my fingers.

I’m sure there are many who would disagree, but I think something, well, different happens when I put actual pen to paper. It would be interesting to take a poll to see where the majority of writers land on the question….
