Flash Fiction Fridays on WUWM, 89.7

Flash Fiction Friday, January 21, 2011

Co-edited by Stephanie Lecci and Robert Vaughan, Lake Effect on WUWM, 89.7 now offers local flash fiction writers the opportunity to read their work on the air one Friday a month. Listen to RedBird-RedOak’s Director, Kim Suhr, read her story, “Mom’s Last Drive,” in the first installment archived at the Lake Effect website. In addition, enjoy Robert reading Len Kuntz’s “The Sky, the Sky, the Wide Open Sky,” and local writer, Guy Yasko, reading his microflash pieces, “Signs” and “Silence.”

Soon, writers will be able to submit their work directly at the Lake Effect website. Check back for a link.

Open Studio Writing, Thurs. Jan 20th

Bring your notebook or laptop and travel mug to the studio #429 in the Marian Cente for Nonprofits. From 10 am – 12 noon, we’ll be writing in gentle silence. Great peer pressure to keep going!

Volunteer Writers: Ronald McDonald House Needs You

This request comes from Jacquelyn Wahlberg of Rounald McDonald House:

Currently, the Ronald McDonald House is looking for creative writers to help capture family stories with the hope of producing 2-3 family stories / month. Ideally, we would like to build a relationship with individual writers. This would be a great portfolio building experience for volunteer writers and would be such an amazing resource for the Ronald McDonald House. I am open to any ideas and suggestions and hope there might be some opportunities for us to grow our Family Stories program!

Check out some examples at their website and then contact Jacquelyn at 414-475-6462

Congrats, Joanne!
